D. Jones wardrobe consultant Brittany Nickolyn is a big fan of the sport coat. Today she's going to share why it's an important piece for you.
- Versatility. A sport coat is probably the most versatile item for men. You can easily wear it casually with jeans or khakis with either a t-shirt, dress shirt, or even a polo underneath. It's the perfect addition to date night or a happy hour with the guys. It changes your t-shirt and jeans look to a well-dressed man with class. It's also suitable for the workplace. Most law offices are business casual when not meeting with clients or going to court. In those cases, you will almost always need a suit. But for most of the time, wearing a solid or patterned sport coat with slacks really amps up your look for the office as well.
- Seasonality. It's hard to think of wearing a jacket in the summer. However, it isn't appropriate to dress like you are on the beach. That 's why having a sport coat handy can help you in the warmer seasons. Not only are their versatility in patterns great for the spring summer seasons, D. Jones has super lightweight fabrics that are very easy to wear in the heat. Some are even light than our suit jackets. Sport coats are traditionally thought of as heavy navy jackets with gold buttons. That's okay if you are extremely conservative, but it's definitely not your only option. Having lighter color blues and greys with subtle patterns are a must have.
- Trendsetting. A current trend I'm loving for sport coats are, of course, our the lighter weight options. Also, anything glenn plaid with subtle colors like light purple, light pinks, and light blues. All of these are suitable to wear with slacks, khakis or even jeans. Also, you can never go wrong with solids. That way you can wear any color or patterned shirt without the worry of the different wardrobe items clashing.
